Daily Schedule
Early Morning Activities
Good Morning
This is a friendly, informal time during which each child is greeted by name. All children are encouraged to put
their coats on hooks near the school's entrance. The child is free to find a table or rug activity (puzzle, book,
or manipulative material) while waiting for classmates to arrive. Children may also watch educational videos if
they prefer.
Group Experience
The children sing a "good morning song" and then participate in show and tell. The teacher may introduce
a new art activity, play materials, exercise, or music and dancing.
Art Activity
Painting is one of the most enjoyable types of activities done in preschool. Not only do children thrill to the
creation of something beautiful, they are given another way to express their feelings. Finger painting is a free
and unstructured activity that may also be enjoyed at this time. Children derive so much pleasure from feeling
and squashing the paint through their fingers - creating designs, changing them with one or two sweeps of the hand,
adding color, and seeing another design appear.
Free Play
During this time children are given a free choice of play activity. A child may want to play alone or with other
children, and may partake in as many activities as this time will allow.
We provide interesting materials that stimulate
children's learning and creativity.
Snacks
Snacks are served twice a day, at 9:30 A.M. and 3:30 P.M. Typical snacks consist of juice or milk, baked goods,
crackers, cheese, nuts, and fresh fruits.
Late Morning and Afternoon Activities
Lunch
We serve a nutritious meal daily. Lunch is prepared on the premises by our cook. Children are introduced to a wide
selection of culturally varied foods. Seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables are served all year.
Bowls of extra food are available for children who
ask for seconds (and thirds). We encourage children to eat their main dish before dessert is provided.
Nap Time
Some children fall asleep easily at nap time while other children find it more difficult. If children are unable
to sleep, a teacher may read them a short story or gently rub their back until they are able to fall asleep.
Story Telling
Some of the fondest memories people have are of being read to as a child. It is a quiet time where children feel
secure and nurtured. The stories read at Kids Kollege will cover a great deal of subjects. Children will be able
to share their own stories as well. Story telling time is an enjoyable and informative experience for all involved.
